Toronto Heritage book award

The Toronto Carrying Place has been nominated for the 2016 Heritage Toronto book award. The competition this year is fierce, with many great books nominated, including works by Toronto notables John Sewell and Bob Rae.

Glenn will be shaking in his boots at the Award Ceremony on Monday, October 17 at the Isabel Badel Theatre, 93 Charles Street West, in Toronto. Tickets are available through the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Swansea Historical Society

Glenn will be speaking to the Swansea Historical Society on Wednesday, February 3 at 7.15 PM. The Society meets in the old Swansea Town Hall at 95 Lavinia Avenue, Toronto, Ont. M6S 3H9, not far from the foot of the Toronto Carrying Place. Glenn will have books on hand for sale.

Toronto Public Library & United Empire Loyalists

Glenn will be speaking at the Runnymede Branch of the Toronto Public Library at 2178 Bloor Street West on Saturday, October 24 from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM.

And -- in his last booked appearance for this calendar year! -- he will be speaking to the United Empire Loyalists (Toronto Branch) on Sunday, October 25 from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM.

Weston and East Gwillimbury

Glenn will be speaking to the Weston Historical Society on Wednesday, October 7 at 7.30 PM in the Village of Humber Heights Retirement Home, 2245 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto.

On Thursday, October 8 at 7.30 PM, he will be speaking to the East Gwillimbury Historical Society at the Temperance Hall, 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon.

Toronto Carrying Place conference and Word on the Street!

Returning to his Etobicoke roots, Glenn will be selling and signing books at the day-long conference entitled The Toronto Carrying Place: a shared legacy on Saturday, September 26 from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM at the Old Mill Inn and Spa, 21 Old Mill Road, Toronto.

On Sunday, September 27 from 5.00 PM to 5.30 PM, Glenn is honoured to be speaking at the Word on the Street - Nothing But The Truth pavilion at Harbourfront, 235 Queen's Quay West, Toronto. Glenn will be appearing in the All Mapped Out: Historic Toronto session, alongside John Lorinc and Dr. Ellen Scheinberg, editors of The Ward: the life and loss of Toronto's first immigrant neighbourhood.

Fort Willow, King Museum & Tecumseth West Gwillimbury

Fort Willow
Glenn will be selling books all day (rain or shine, 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM) on Saturday, September 19 at the Festival at Fort Willow,  Fort Willow is one of the end points of the Nine-Mile Portage, the last link between the Toronto Carrying Place, Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay. The Fort is located at 2714 Grenfel Road, Minesing (near Barrie). See the map for directions, and click on the poster at the bottom of this page for an idea of what the day will be like.

King Township Museum
Glenn will be speaking about hiking the Toronto Carrying Place on Sunday, September 20 at 2.00 PM in the King Township Museum. The Museum features original buildings such as a charming railway waiting room, and sits very close to the Carrying Place. The address is 2920 King Road, King City (see the poster at the bottom of this page).

Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury Historical Society
And on Monday, September 21 at 7.30 PM, Glenn will be speaking at the Tecumseth West Gwillimbury Women's Institute, 4380 10th Line, Bradford.

Brûlé-Wendats Expedition

Glenn will be a part of the three-day Brûlé-Wendats Expedition, organized by the Société d'histoire de Toronto to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Étienne Brûlé's trip down the Carrying Place. Here are the major events:

Tastes of the Hill

Glenn will be selling and signing books at Richmond Hill's popular Tastes of the Hill multicultural festival on Sunday, August 23 from 11.00 AM to 8.00 PM.
